In Memoriam: Jonathan M. Menuez

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Jonathan M. Menuez

It is with deep sadness that Sutter O'Connell announces the passing of our Managing Partner, Jonathan Menuez. Jonathan passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a dedicated leader, exceptional trial lawyer, and cherished friend and colleague whose influence shaped our firm for decades.

Jonathan earned a BS and a BA from The Ohio State University in 1992 and received his JD from The University of Akron Law School in 1995. He began his legal career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Summit County, Ohio, where he successfully tried numerous felony cases. He later transitioned to civil litigation and joined Sutter O'Connell as a partner in 2002. At Sutter O'Connell, Jonathan built a distinguished career as a prolific trial lawyer, earning a national reputation for his skill, tenacity, and results in the courtroom. In 2021, he was named Managing Partner and provided steady, insightful leadership to the firm until his passing.

A Life Well Lived

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed raising and training hunting dogs and bow hunting throughout the United States. His avid interest in archery led to Jonathan serving as national counsel for businesses in the recreational products industry.

Jonathan’s commitment to excellence, his mentorship of younger attorneys, and his steadfast leadership will be greatly missed. His legacy will continue to guide our firm and the many lawyers and staff he inspired. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jonathan’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
