He has served as local corporate counsel to one of the largest midstream companies in North America where he was responsible for assessing risk, conducting due diligence, and managing outside counsel throughout litigation. He is intimately familiar with oil and gas leasing and title issues.

Derek is actively involved with the Akron Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. In July 2016, Derek was appointed to the Ohio State Bar Association’s Futures Commission where he was tasked with discussing, drafting, and proposing changes to the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, which are the ethical rules which govern attorney conduct. He has also served as co-communication director for the Real Property Section of the Akron Bar Association.

In his free time, Derek enjoys golfing and watching any Cleveland sports team
