Jonathan has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s top trial lawyers for catastrophic injury defense. In 2007, he was named by one of the world’s largest excess carriers as being one of the top ten trial lawyers in the country. He has successfully taken cases to trial involving traumatic brain injury, quadriplegia, severe burns, disfigurement and death. His abilities, both in and out of the court room, have resulted in retention by some of the world’s largest corporations and insurers to defend their most serious cases. His litigation focuses upon the defense of clients in the areas of transportation, products liability, construction defect, and sporting goods manufacturing.
Jonathan has parachuted into and defended multimillion dollar cases in states throughout the nation, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Washington.
Jonathan was raised operating heavy machinery in the farming and construction industries. Following receipt of a business degree from The Ohio State University (1992) and graduation from the University Of Akron School Of Law (1995), Jonathan entered the trenches of the trial world as an Assistant County Prosecutor. Over the next five years, he developed a reputation among trial lawyers and judges for being able to successfully handle difficult trial assignments received on the eve of trial. During his time as a prosecutor, he tried over 60 cases to verdict, including multiple kidnappings, rapes, major drug crimes, and capital murder offenses.
